This here, baby? This blog probably had the most feels while we were in that damn group. This was probably also the one that gave me the most incentive to get out. With this one I was tired of being pushed to do things with my character that I didn’t want to do. I wanted to be in control of my own characters again.
So we did. We got out. And it was the best decision for both of us. We were free again, scarred and more reliant on each other for RP than anyone else, but free. It was a radiant feeling, to know we were in control of our own characters again and could do anything we wanted to do with them. (BTW, this blog isn’t quite two years old. It will be on May 31st. It’s my baby rpg blog)
Every now and then I think back on this group. What it would have meant if I hadn’t joined, or you hadn’t. Things would be so much different, and I think not in a good way. I really am glad fate brought us together like this.
The hospital food had left something to be desired, but she was so famished she didn’t care. She ate it like she hadn’t eaten anything in days. Just shoveling it into her mouth. Scar had come over and sat on the bed, watching her eat. With her mouth full, she nodded at his question, gulping down bites until her tray was clean, save for the orange cup of jello and her drink. She took a large swig of water to wash down her food before picking up the small dessert. Ripping the top open and jamming the spoon into it, taking out a mound of the wiggly orange goo and sucking it into her mouth.
"You look tired," she said around a mouthful of jello. "Have you slept at all yet? Where’s Viktor? Is he okay?" It was the first she had asked about her son and part of her wondered if that was bad, but she had been so tired and then so hungry that her body’s natural reaction was to get food first.
He waited while she ate, realizing by the way she dug into everything that she was starving and he would have to wait to hear anything from her. But he was close to her again, and she was awake and she looked alright, and that was good for his eyes. Good for his sense of calm. He made a face when she got to the orange dessert. He never could get used to the jello stuff. It just didn’t take right, or feel right to eat.
"Haven’t slept yet. I held Viktor while you slept. He’s fine, they’re just feeding him. He’ll be back in a little bit." He explained quietly. He was tired, but he didn’t feel comfortable sleeping while she had been sleeping. It would have left no one to look after their baby. Maybe that nurse could have done it, but he would rather keep Viktor close as much as possible.
Some time passed, allowing Scar to be with his son. Amelia still slept due to exhaustion. The nurse returned, gently telling Scar she needed to take Viktor to be fed and possibly for a diaper change, but that she could bring him right back when they were done. So she left with the baby, who was just starting to wake up and fuss anyway, leaving Scar alone with Amelia.
While Viktor was gone, Amelia finally woke up. And was starving. She practically jammed on the call button, telling the nurses to just bring her food. After all that work she did, she needed to eat and now. She saw Scar, giving him a smile before the nurse arrived with a tray of food. Which she dug into immediately.
He just sat there and held his son. Occasionally looking over at Amelia to see if she woke, but she was sleeping well. He was starting to feel a little tired himself, but he refused to sleep until Amelia had seen Viktor. Eventually the nurse came and insisted on taking Viktor away to feed him and he nodded slowly, letting the nurse take his baby. She promised to be back soon, then left.
When Amelia finally woke up, he sat up straighter, but she just hit the call button, insisting on a meal. Once she had her tray of food, he slipped over to sit on the edge of the bed, smiling at her. “Feel better? Now that you’ve slept?” he asked, looking her over.
The nurse smiled at him, seeing the glow on his face. Just like a new father. “I’m sure she’ll wake in a little while. She just had a hard labor and needs some rest. Until then, I’ll leave you with your son. We may come and take him away for a bit, to give him some food if she does not wake soon, but then you can see him again.” The nurse smiled and left, going to fill out forms.
He looked up at the nurse, nodding slightly. He didn’t want to move and disturb his baby. “She’ll wake up. She doesn’t want to miss seeing him. And I’ll hold him until she wakes. We’ll be fine here.” He clutched Viktor a little closer to his chest when she said she would take him away, relaxing when she said it would only be to feed him. That would be okay. He could handle that.
The nurse helped him hold his son. Positioning his arms just so. Smiling when he told her their son’s name. “A lovely name,” she said. “I’ll go mark it on his birth certificate. You can stay here with him. One of us will be in to check on you in a bit. Hopefully your wife will be up then. So she can eat and feed the baby.”
Once his arms were positioned correctly, he cradled his son. He didn’t want to let go, now that he had the son he wanted. The baby was beautiful, sleeping just like his mom was, resting for now. Scar looked up at the nurse and nodded. “I hope she’ll be awake soon. She’ll want to see him,” he said softly. He looked over at his wife, seeing her resting peacefully for now.
She was out. Didn’t even feel Scar brushing her hair. It had taken such a toll that her body just needed sleep. So she didn’t even see the nurses bringing their newly cleaned son back into the room. Swaddled in a blanket. The nurse asking Scar if he wanted to hold their son and if they had a name picked out.
He looked up when the nurse came in, his son in her arms. She asked if he wanted to hold the baby and he panicked slightly, but nodded. She smiled softly and helped him arrange his arms so he was cradling the baby in his arms, supporting his son’s head and body. She asked if they’d picked out a name and he nodded slowly, admiring the boy in his arms. “Viktor. Victor Ahadi. He’s my son,” he whispered, glancing up at the nurse, still stunned at the fact that he had a child.
Time seemed to drag. Everything going in slow motion. How she just wanted it over. It was exhausting and painful and she just wanted to stop. But there was no stopping, just going forward. After what seemed like an eternity, the final push came and their baby finally was here. Though she got worried when she didn’t hear a cry at first. But after the nurses cleared his nose, he cried, filling the room with them. She smiled, and fell back to the bed, tired. The cord was cut and the nurses took their baby off to be weighed, measured and cleaned up. The doctor took care of everything else and congratulated them on their son. She nodded, trying to stay awake to see their son, but she just couldn’t and she passed out.
It seemed to take forever and Amelia was crying out the entire time. He hated to hear her in so much pain, knowing he couldn’t do anything about it. Finally, their baby was there, and the nurses were surrounding the little bed he was in. Then the baby was crying and the doctor was congratulating them on a baby boy. Someone offered to let him cut the cord but he looked at them wide-eyed and shook his head rapidly, letting the doctor do it instead. Then the baby was gone. He almost panicked, following the nurses, but the doctor explained that he was just going to be cleaned up and then would be right back. He nodded and sank into the chair beside the bed. Smiling at the sleeping form of his Kitten.he brushed at her hair, waiting for their baby to return.
She let out a little whimper from the pain, but nodded at Scar. Squeezing his hand lightly when he kissed hers. They would just take it as it came. So then the countdown clock began. Her contractions getting worse the closer she got. Until the doctor told her it was time to push. So he walked her through everything. Talking to her the whole time. She did as best she could, crying out in pain when everything seemed to take forever. Just now wanting it over with. And she was just about crushing Scar’s hand through it all.
He was nervous, but he would be there for her for every minute of this. They’d agreed to do this a step at a time. The steps were coming fast now, but he was following as best he could. Suddenly she was pushing, gripping his hand tightly each time. He let her, rubbing her back, trying to ease her through the pushing. Wanting to help as much as he could when she had to do all of the work.
She curled her hand around Scar’s. Gripping tight when another contraction hit her. The monitor beeping again. They were getting much more intense and closer together. She would definitely have their kid soon. The doctor walked them through everything and just told her that they’d take it as slow as it went. Trying to keep her as comfortable as possible.
She held his hand, clenching it when another contraction hit her. He rubbed her arm, stroking her shoulder. Taking care not to disturb the wires or the doctors surrounding them. The doctor kept talking and he tried to pay attention, wanting to hear any directions pointed directly at him. But they were just going at the pace Amelia needed, which sounded good to him. “It’s good, Kitten. We can do this,” he murmured, kissing her hand.
